Collagen
is natural protein. It provides structure and strength to our skin.
Zyderm® and Zyplast® collagen are derived from highly purified
bovine collagen. They are placed just beneath the top layers of the
skin to blend with your own collagen in order to fill in your lines
and scars. Collagen is used alone, or as supplementary filler for those
areas that other methods cannot fully eliminate. It is very safe and
used internationally.

In addition, the dentist will administer a skin test and discuss your medical history to eliminate the possibility of an allergic reaction. Does it hurt?
The collagen is injected just below the surface of the skin. Some individuals are sensitive to injections or may have areas that are more sensitive than others. The collagen is mixed with lidocaine, a numbing agent. After the first few injections, the sensitivity should decrease. The needle used to inject collagen is one of the thinnest needles available.

The results are immediate. Collagen Replacement Therapy is an on-going maintenance procedure--just like caring for your hair or nails. How long the correction lasts varies with each individual and area treated. Most individuals prefer to have touch-up treatments every 4-6 months.
